More than 865 existing workers and 24 new hires will broaden
their job skills thanks to a partnership between Muskegon
Community College, Orchard View’s Workforce Development
Center, and seven area firms. Anderson Pattern, Eagle Alloy,
Grand Haven Stamped Products, Herman Miller, Honeywell-Burdick
& Jackson, Micron Manufacturing Company, and SunChemical
are the seven firms from Muskegon and Northern Ottawa Counties
that have been awarded a total of $396,000 this month to
fund training initiatives. Michigan’s Economic Development
Job Training (EDJT) grant program provides funding for 75%
of the training costs, with employers required to provide
the remaining 25%.
The EDJT Program, which is administered by
the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, is a great
resource for Michigan companies looking to increase workforce
productivity and enhance the technical skills of their workforce.
However the grant process is extremely competitive with
requests for training dollars far exceeding the amount of
funds available. For more information on the EDJT program
and eligibility requirements, please contact
us.
