Education

There are excellent educational resources in the Muskegon Area. Twelve public school districts, 11 private school systems, and 4 charter academies provide a variety of quality educational opportunities in Muskegon County. In addition, Muskegon County voters recently approved a one-mill levy to establish the Muskegon Area Career Tech Center on the Muskegon Community College campus. The Career Tech Center will provide career and technical education in 22 program areas for high school students.

Opportunities for higher education in the Muskegon Area are available through Baker College and Muskegon Community College. Additionally, Ferris State University, Grand Valley State University, and Western Michigan University all provide course offerings at the Stevenson Center for Higher Education, located on the campus of Muskegon Community College. Teleconferencing and integrated distance learning technology is available as well. The main campuses of Ferris State University, Grand Valley State University, Western Michigan University, and several other colleges and universities are within commuting distance from the Muskegon Area.
