MUSKEGON - Holland-based information technology firm Worksighted LLC has added a Muskegon area office. Worksighted is now part of the Whetstone Project, Muskegon Area First's business incubator on West Sherman Avenue in Muskegon Heights. The company was formed in Holland in 2000 and opened a Grand Rapids office in February 2002. President Mat Nguyen told MiBiz the Muskegon office gives Worksighted a greater regional footprint and allows it to accommodate the needs of lakeshore clients more efficiently.

"We've been eyeing this location for eight months now. We really wanted to have a local presence in Muskegon. It gives our clients better response time and it gives us a chance to become involved with the community through the chamber and other projects," said Nguyen.

Extensive market research conducted by Nguyen swayed his decision to establish a location in Muskegon. The research concluded there was ample room for a specialized firm like Worksighted. "There are not many IT companies here. This area is thirsty for technology," he said.

Nguyen added that the Whetstone Project offered the ideal solution for Worksighted to enter the market. "It does not make sense for us to open a huge office just yet. This opportunity came up, and it was perfect. We have nice facilities and the rates are low," Nguyen said. "It made sense to move here and maybe we'll reevaluate our position in a year."

The Muskegon office will serve as both a sales and technical support operation, whereas the Grand Rapids location was set up primarily for tech support.

"Grand Rapids was a pilot project for us and followed the engineering/construction office methodology of having field offices and deploying technicians from those offices," said Nguyen. "We are obsessed with customer service. The Muskegon office will help prove that to our clients in Muskegon and Grand Haven."

With the establishment of the Muskegon location, Worksighted completes its objective to strategically position itself throughout the Grand Rapids-Holland-Muskegon triplex.

"We're looking at West Michigan as a region and we want to interweave our services throughout it," Nguyen said.

Worksighted employs seven and provides IT solutions to small- and medium-sized businesses. Its information systems division does consulting, project management, network design and implementation and network solutions. It also deals with computer security, virus protection and network solutions. Worksighted's Web tech division offers consulting Web site creation and design, content management, e-commerce, database integration and graphic design.
