WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Holland, on Tuesday announced that the U.S. Army has awarded a contract to General Dynamics Land Systems of Muskegon to build the interface assembly for Bradley Fighting Vehicle transmission systems.

“A new contract with a West Michigan company that funds local jobs is good news, especially a contract of this size,” Hoekstra said. “The Bradley Fighting Vehicle is a keystone combat machine to our national defense, and I am proud to announce that men and women in Muskegon will be keeping them rolling.”

The initial order is in the amount of $1,841,361 and the estimated cumulative amount of the contract is $5,233,818. The interface assembly sits atop the transmission. It is a mechanical-electrical unit that coordinates the engine and vehicle with the transmission. Specifically, it controls the steering and brake input of the vehicle.

The plant where work will be performed is located at 76 Getty St., Muskegon, MI 49442-1238. The estimated completion date is Jan. 5, 2005.
