STERLING HEIGHTS - General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) Muskegon operations will handle the bulk of the work generated from a $24.5 million contract from United Defense.

The contract is for 138 Bradley HMPT 500-3ECB transmission assemblies and 138 turret drive systems. These components are used in the Bradley Fighting Vehicle M2A3 product improvement program.

According to GDLS, 68 percent of the work on the components will be done in Muskegon. The remaining work will be split between GDLS' facilities in Tallahassee, Fla. and Scranton, Penn. The program will be managed by General Dynamics Land Systems' Propulsion Systems operation in Muskegon.

This contract is the third award against a now fully funded Bradley multi-year contract, valued at $76.5 million, which was initially awarded in September 2001.

The improved transmission assemblies and turret drive systems are scheduled to be delivered between April 2004 and March 2005.
